Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Computational Fluid Dynamics has now become a proven technique in the aerodynamic design of motorsport vehicles; Computers and CFD methods to simulate wind tunnel and track conditions have matured and are now playing an expanding role in the design and optimisation of track and road going vehicles.

CFD codes simulate the flow around a vehicle through discreet mathematical modeling of the fluid space surrounding the vehicle, in essence a virtual wind tunnel. The added benefit of the virtual wind tunnel is it enables accurate display, analysis and understanding of the fluid flow surrounding the vehicle, with a level of detail unattainable experimentally

The modelling techniques applied now provide the levels of accuracy which enable design and development to be carried out long before entering the wind tunnel, minimising the cost of test component manufacture and development time

With nearly a decade of aerodynamic and design development experience, we can provide you with a service that until now has only been available to world championship winning formula 1 teams and the largest of automotive manufacturers.
